Description

The one most people should buy. Full 1000 W and nearly double the range of the Pro S, for the same weight on your hips.

Where the extra range goes

The Pro S covers about 17.5 km of assisted walking on Eco 30. The Max S covers about 30 km on the same battery, because more efficient motors do the same work for less current. In practice that is the difference between a half day and a full day above treeline without thinking about the pack.

The battery is the part you will actually notice

72 Wh, removable, and charged by a 65 W charger that reaches about half in 35 minutes. You can pull it out with gloves on. A second battery is sold separately if your days run long — or step up to the Ultra S, which ships with two.

Ten modes, chosen for you

Up Stairs, Down Stairs, Uphill, Downhill, Speed Walking, Walking, Cycling, Running, Mountain and Gravel. Sensors at both hips read the angle and speed of each leg and the unit switches by itself; there is nothing to press mid-climb.

Built for weather, not for swimming

IP54. Rain, spray and dust are fine. Submersion is not, and river crossings above the waist will end badly. The frame is a stainless steel hip lever, an aluminium alloy tube and a carbon-fibre reinforced polymer leg lever.

What it is not

Outdoor equipment for people who already walk — not a medical device and not a mobility aid. It does not carry you. It adds torque to the leg that is already moving, and does nothing when you stand still.

Genuine Hypershell hardware, supplied sealed.

Fit & comfort

The X Max S is designed to move with you, with an adjustable fit for a wide range of body types.
